Department of Periodontology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The UAB School of Dentistry is a leading oral health education and research institution with a focus on clinical and scholarly excellence. We seek an energetic team player who can advance the mission of the department in didactic
and clinical teaching, research, service, and patient care. Individuals serving in this faculty position will contribute to education at UAB through delivery of didactic and clinical educational experiences for predoctoral and postdoctoral students. The faculty member will provide departmental representation on school and university committees and will contribute to overall curricular development and review of
patient care within the UAB School of Dentistry and at the University Level. Faculty members within the Department of Periodontology report directly to the Chair and are an integral part of the departmental leadership team. Patient care responsibilities include investigation of new and emerging patient care treatments and developments in dental practice equipment and techniques. Faculty within the department will
work with the Department Chair to identify and implement policies, procedures, and processes to increase clinic revenues and demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset exemplified by creating ideas for improving clinical operational efficiencies while balancing the academic nature of the curriculum and the business needs of the clinical enterprise. Faculty members are offered the opportunity to participate in direct
patient care through the intramural Dental Faculty Practice. Academic rank, salary, and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and subject to review by the UAB SOD promotion and tenure committee.
