Stony Brook University is undergoing tremendous growth. Our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program is expanding to meet the growing need for psychiatric care for pediatric patients in the community. We are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of working with a growing team of clinicians, educators and researchers who are motivated to enhance the range of services provided to
children and families. The Clinical Assistant Professor will serve as a Clinical Psychologist in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinics across Stony Brook Medicine locations, based on departments needs. The outpatient program provides evaluations, medication management and psychotherapy services in our general and specialty clinics to patients with a wide range of
diagnoses in the pediatric population, including those with a wide variety of conditions, including neurodevelopmental disorders. Responsibilities include direct patient care (at least 90% effort) including diagnostic evaluations, individual and group psychotherapy and non-clinical activities (up to 10% effort) which can include research/academic activities. The academic component includes teaching and
supervision of psychology externs, interns, postdoc fellows, as well as medical students, psychiatry residents and fellows. Working on research-related or scholarly projects is encouraged. While not a required component for this role, engaging in scholarly activity and research leads to a path for academic promotion. FLEXIBLE: Full-Time schedule totaling forty hours 5 days per week, including the possibility of
evening hours; hybrid work schedule including appointments via telehealth. *Please note: The telehealth policy could be subject to change by Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Hospital if needed. Per Stony Brook Hospital’s policies, Psychologists and patients must be located in New York State.
