Position summary

The Department of OB/GYN at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks to hire a faculty member to serve in the role of Vice Chair of Research for the overall OB/GYN Department and to perform clinical duties 20% effort.  The Vice Chair of Research provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of the department’s research programs and activities with a focus on the growth and

sustainability of the department’s research portfolio.   Job Responsibilities Expectations of the Vice Chair of Research will be to: ensure the realization of high quality and highly productive research and research education programs within established regulatory and institutional guidelines and policies; collaborate with senior leadership within, and external to, the department to drive, support, and model an

innovation and entrepreneurial-oriented culture focused on high-quality clinical and translational research; serve as a member of the department’s executive leadership team, building and supporting effective collegial relationships with applicable internal and external constituents and stakeholders; ensure optimal operating effectiveness and strategic positioning of department’s research programs; and, coordinate and

collaborate with the other members of the executive leadership team to support the department’s overall clinical, research and education missions. As a senior researcher, the Vice Chair of Research will have the opportunity to maintain a personal program of research. The individual will also mentor department faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students in developing and pursuing their research.   The
