Position summary

The Chair of the Department of Pediatrics   will advance the clinical, research, and educational enterprises for Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, with primary responsibility for the continued success, growth, and leadership of a dynamic team of 275 full-time faculty members. This highly talented team of pediatricians is unified by a shared vision and mission, caring for one of

the sickest, most complex, and diverse patient populations in the country. This pediatrician and leader will also serve as the Physician-in-Chief   for NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, the largest inpatient facility within the Children’s Hospital of New York (CHONY), which is one of the largest providers of children’s health services in the tri-state area. Leadership seeks a

visionary leader who will play a pivotal role in advancing the system-wide vision for CHONY and shaping this Department amidst a period of strategic growth as the institution meets the needs of the community and the region, while also caring for patients nationally and internationally. This position will require a deep commitment to fostering collaboration across various disciplines and institutions to enhance the

health and well-being of the children cared for in the communities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in aligning departmental initiatives with the overarching CHONY vision, ensuring that key strategies and programs effectively support the advancement of children’s health. This role necessitates a close partnership with the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Cornell University and engagement with

leaders across pediatric subspecialties at both Columbia University and Weill Cornell, promoting an integrated approach to pediatric care that leverages the system’s collective expertise and resources.
