Position summary

Columbia University is a leader in biomedical research and is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Columbia's Vagelos School of Physicians and Surgeons is amongst the top research universities and provides an outstanding intellectual environment. The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center provides outstanding Biomedical Research

Cores. The HICCC houses 12 core facilities or shared resources that provide services essential to basic and translational cancer research, to which the applicant will have continued full access on a 24/7 basis. Dr. Joel T. Gabre is a Gastroenterologist and GI Cancer Genetic Specialist and investigator at Columbia University Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Gabre Lab develops innovative platforms to

study tumor-immune interactions and accelerate immunotherapy development for solid tumors. We are currently recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to lead our work on developing cutting-edge Co-Culture platforms that combines patient-derived organoids (PDOs) with autologous tumor-resident immune cells (TRICs) to study tumor-immune dynamics and identify novel therapeutic targets. This project bridges fundamental cancer

biology with translational medicine, utilizing techniques ranging from organoid culture and immune cell isolation to functional genomic screens and single-cell sequencing. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cellular immunology, cancer biology, and/or organoid culture techniques. Experience with functional genomic screens, flow cytometry, and bioengineering is highly desirable. The position offers

opportunities to collaborate with clinical and basic science researchers while developing innovative approaches to cancer immunotherapy. If you are passionate about cancer immunotherapy, translational research, and innovation in science, we strongly encourage you to apply!
