The Department of Radiation Oncology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University seeks a full-time Medical Physicist for a clinical and academic position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful applicant is expected to fulfill clinical duties as medical physicist and collaborate collegially building departmental research excellence. The start date of this position is

flexible either immediately or Oct 2026. The Medical Physicist is a valuable member of our team who provides clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills, while adhering to our high standards of excellence. This position will provide site coverage for both SBUH at the Stony Brook main campus and Phillips Family

Cancer Center (PFCC) at Stony Brook Southampton hospital. Duties of a Medical Physicist may include the following but are not limited to: Calibration and maintenance of Radiation Oncology equipment. Perform machine acceptance test and commissioning. Patient treatment planning. Brachytherapy procedures. Quality assurance and compliance. Development and implementation of new Radiation Therapy procedures, techniques,

and instrumentation. Research excellence in the field of medical physics and radiation oncology. Education in CAMPEP-accredited medical physics residency training program, Radiation Oncology medical residency program, and PhD/MS graduate students of medical physics and biomedical engineering.
