Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC)’s Department of OBGYN is excited to announce an opportunity to join Women’s Genetics as a Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Genetic Counseling (rank dependent on individual experiences) and research/clinical genetic counselor at CUIMC. Women’s Genetics includes a team of genetic counselors and coordinators led by two Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist/Geneticists, a

research genetic counselor manager, and a clinical genetic counselor manager. Members of Women’s Genetics at Columbia have been at the forefront of discovery and implementation of reproductive genetic technologies for women and their pregnancies. Many of these studies have appeared in leading medical journals, changing obstetrical care and genetics practice. We are seeking a highly motivated Genetic Counselor to

support and coordinate reproductive genomics research and provide patient care in Obstetrics & Gynecology, bolstering our overarching goal to be leaders in the translation of genomic medicine into maternal-fetal and women’s health.   This individual will primarily work with our maternal-fetal genomic research initiatives supported through NIH and through the collaboration between the Department of OBGYN and

the New York Genome Center. The individual will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of ongoing research initiatives such as our NICHD funded study of prenatal genomic sequencing in non-anomalous fetuses, the expansion of our fetal sequencing data repository with Broad Institute, and our efforts to keep patients engaged with their sequencing data longitudinally through a grant partnership with Geisinger.

The candidate will perform other research related duties as assigned. This individual will also provide clinical genetic counseling services within OBGYN and support a variety of learners such as genetic counseling graduate students, medical students, residents, and fellow through fieldwork placements and teaching as neede
