Lecturer, Instructor or Assistant Professor in Genetic Counseling (in Medicine) at CUIMC The Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics (CPMG) in the Department of Medicine, under the direction of Dr. Ali Gharavi, is a growing program that comprehensively integrates genetics and genomics into patient care, research, and training, across medical specialties.The CPMG is seeking a genetic counselor to join the growing

team of genetic counselors, researchers, bioinformaticians, and clinicians in a full-time position. This position carries a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine at the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons (VP&S) of Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) at the rank of Lecturer, Instructor or Assistant Professor (based on  relevant experience and qualifications). Clinical

responsibilities include providing genetic counseling services to patients and family members in the multiple adult specialty genetics clinics in CPMG and Department of Medicine. In this role, the genetic counselor will conduct intake screening, risk assessment, explain nature and scope of testing procedures; act as a liaison between the clinical department and the molecular diagnostic laboratories; communicate

results to patients and families and write summary reports; and develop and present in-service education to physicians and other health care providers to increase genetic testing fluency among providers of the Medical Center. Additionally, the genetic counselor will be involved in the implementation of new opportunities for the provision of genetic counseling across clinical and research  specialties in
