Position summary

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) welcomes applications for a faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline or Senior Lecturer in Discipline, to start July 1, 2026. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, renewable appointment with multi-year renewal contingent on successful reviews. Lecturers in Discipline are officers in the

University who meet a programmatic need for instruction in specialized fields. Responsibilities of this position will include teaching three lecture courses per semester on topics in computational mechanical and aerospace engineering design and analysis. In addition to or in lieu of teaching some of these courses, the lecturer will also be responsible for mentoring students in a new aerospace minor and MS

specialization, and advising undergraduate or graduate student clubs. The lecturer will also be expected to help with curricular development and outreach activities, some involving high school students.  Benefits available to Engineering lecturers may include leave, research, the potential for summer salary, and opportunities for additional compensation.
