Position summary

The Columbia University Undergraduate Writing Program (UWP) in the Department of English and Comparative Literature invites applications for one-year, two-year, and three-year Lecturer in Discipline positions to begin July 1, 2026. UWP Lecturers teach first-year writing and assist the directors in developing theme-based first-year writing courses. The Undergraduate Writing Program is located in the Department of

English and Comparative Literature. The "University Writing" course is part of Columbia University's Core Curriculum, which is required of all first-year students in Columbia College, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the School of General Studies, and the Jewish Theological Seminary. particularly seek faculty with expertise in Writing Studies (including all subspecialties, but especially writing center studies).  We currently teach sections of our first-year writing course in each of the following thematic areas: ·         American studies ·         climate humanities
