The department offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and
Engineering Technology. The department also offers minors in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering Technology. A Master of Science degree in Mathematics is offered with concentrations in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Teaching, and Remote Sensing.The purpose of the unit is to foster an environment that encourages students to become active participants in the process of learning by providing quality
teaching, advising, and engagement in career explorations.A Doctorate degree is required in mathematics or related areas. The individual selected for the Distinguished Professorship will be a published scholar in mathematics. His/her presence on the faculty will provide intellectual depth while further strengthening the quality of teaching in the fulfillment of the university’s mission of excellence in research and
scholarly activities. Description of Work The primary purpose of the position is to raise the prestige and visibility of the university in northeastern North Carolina, the state, and the nation. The distinguished professorship will raise expectations, improve academic excellence, and enhance student learning thereby producing a more competitive ECSU student. The position will teach, develop, and assess courses.
