ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION Posted On: September 3, 2026 Hours: Full Time Description: The Department of Electrical Engineering at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Electrical Engineering. We seek candidates with strong expertise in computer architecture and digital hardware systems, with the ability to

contribute to core undergraduate instruction in areas such as computer organization and architecture, digital logic and hardware design, FPGA-based systems, embedded computing, and hardware-software integration. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching connect these foundations to emerging areas including embedded and edge AI, AI/ML hardware acceleration, intelligent embedded systems,

reconfigurable computing, RISC-V and emerging processor architectures, hardware-software co-design, and energy-efficient computing. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in computer and electrical engineering, develop advanced courses in their area of expertise, advise and mentor master’s students, maintain an active program of scholarly research, and engage undergraduate students in research,

design, and project-based learning. The Department emphasizes rigorous undergraduate education, close faculty-student interaction, hands-on experimentation, and engineering design. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring and an interest in integrating laboratory experiences, prototyping, design projects, and contemporary engineering tools into the curriculum. The Cooper

Union being a small institution, faculty are expected to have a broad perspective, teaching and leading in areas well beyond their narrow discipline. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to help shape the Department’s evolving computer engineering curriculum, laboratory infrastructure, and project-based educational experiences. As artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies transform

engineering practice, we welcome candidates interested in thoughtful and responsible approaches to integrating AI into engineering curricula, design practice, assessment, and student learning. Cooper Union’s small scale and highly engaged student body provide significant opportunities for close faculty-student collaboration through undergraduate research, independent projects, senior design, interdisciplinary
