Department of Education Section Education Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The Division of Academic Affairs provides leadership in developing and maintaining quality academic programs and support services that contribute to the achievement of the university’s mission. The division strives to be recognized as a student-centered university with emphasis on excellence in teaching, learning and scholarly
activities; commitment to total student development; and outstanding service and engagement with local, regional, national and global communities. Description of Work This Endowed Professor will support existing programs and activities of the department and provide leadership for the following initiatives: development of a rural teacher/administrative training program in collaboration with rural school districts and
communities; establishment of summer institutes and professional development opportunities for P-12 teachers, administrators, school boards and other community stakeholders; and development and teaching of advanced training programs. In addition, the chair will continue to pursue scholarly activities and secure external funds to support initiatives; serve on university, local and state committees, boards, task forces
