Position description The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care is seeking faculty to work as a part of a team emphasizing high quality, patient-centered perioperative care with a focus on evidence-based medicine. This outstanding opportunity is a chance to be a part of one of the most preeminent anesthesia departments in

the world. UCSF has a storied history of innovation in anesthesia, critical care, and pain medicine. We are enormously proud of our tradition of excellent patient care, research, and education. Our department is committed to supporting our people through a culture and work environment that fosters well-being. We recognize that a systems approach is necessary to succeed, and we are dedicated to creating positive work

and learning environments that allow all clinicians to thrive. We cultivate well-being which aligns with the strategic priorities of UCSF Health under the True North Pillar, “Our People”. Our department philosophy is also aligned with UCSF campus leadership in the areas of recruiting, retaining, and celebrating individuals from a variety of life experiences, backgrounds, and points of view to better reflect the

diversity of the population we serve in the San Francisco Bay Area. We further recognize that successfully recruiting people to join our team is not the end of the story. It is also critical that we provide an environment in which all individuals in our workforce and trainee programs experience a professional, supportive, collaborative, and open environment and have the opportunity to thrive. We are dedicated to the

ongoing pursuit of these goals. Anesthesia faculty members participate as a part of a team that includes over 250 faculty members, 57 staff physicians, 68 CRNAs, 18 fellows, 96 residents, 32 academic researchers, and 188 staff members. The Department has essential roles in patient care outside of the operating rooms, with active participation in Ambulatory Care, Acute and Chronic Pain, and the Preoperative Clinic.
