Position description The Chair serves as the strategic, academic, and administrative leader for the Department of Radiation Oncology, charged with guiding its overall direction and growth. This
individual will be responsible for cultivating and strengthening key relationships across the UC Davis School of Medicine, health system, and the Cancer Center, while providing strategic vision for the department’s research and educational programs. Working in close collaboration with the Cancer Center Director and other health system leadership, the Chair will advance and expand the clinical enterprise and foster a
strong sense of community that supports faculty, staff, students, and residents alike. In alignment with the School of Medicine’s research mission and other goals set forth by the Dean, the Chair will expand opportunities for research with other disciplines and affiliated partners and promote scholarly activity. A deep appreciation for the collective good of UC Davis and the interconnected nature of a matrixed
organization will be essential. The Chair will also continue to enhance the Department’s highly regarded medical and physics residency programs. Equally important, the Chair will ensure that research, education, clinical care, and community outreach are integrated to sustain a thriving, high-quality academic practice.
