Position summary

The Division of Cardiology at The Heart Institute, Stony Brook University Hospital, seeks a full-time academic clinical cardiologist to lead an outpatient-based Urgent Cardiac Consultation program. This role is designed for a clinician-educator or clinician-investigator who is enthusiastic about building a same-day and rapid-access cardiology service for patients with acute but typically non-emergent cardiovascular

concerns.  Clinical effort, program leadership, and academic activities will be tailored to align with individual strengths, subspecialty interests, and long-term career goals, with opportunities to integrate preventive cardiology, imaging, and disease-specific expertise. mentoring, and teaching.  We serve a population of 1.7 million people in Suffolk County, with additional patients from the tri-state region.  Stony Brook University Hospital has been ranked among the top 100 Hospitals for cardiac care by Healthgrades since 2016. Work alongside nationally recognized experts and outstanding mentors in a top 100, outcomes-driven Heart Institute with centers of excellence,

premier fellowship training, and active research programs. Lead and grow an Outpatient Urgent Cardiac Consultation Program that provides same-day and rapid-access evaluation for patients with active cardiovascular symptoms (for example, new or worsening chest pain, dyspnea, palpitations, abnormal ECGs, elevated biomarkers, perioperative concerns) who can be safely managed without routine Emergency Department use.

Design and implement standardized triage pathways, algorithms, and communication channels with primary care, ED, hospital services, and community cardiologists to reduce avoidable ED visits and admissions while improving safety, access, and patient experience. Provide high-quality ambulatory cardiovascular care within Heart Institute
