Position overview Position title: Cal Teach Pre-six Lecturer Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $9,986-$10,286 (based on salary points 5-6). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year. Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned. Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring

unit’s instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2025 through fall quarter 2026. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment. Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring

quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session. Position description The Cal Teach Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach Cal Teach math and/or science seminars (EDUC 50B, EDUC 50C, EDUC 100A, EDUC 100B, EDUC 100C, EDUC 185L). These are seminar courses

designed to introduce undergraduate math, science, and engineering majors to secondary math and science teaching careers; support and augment their K-12 internship experience; and develop teaching skills, especially skills addressing the needs of students in high-need schools. Selected candidates will join an instructional team offering approximately eight classes each year, a sequence of seminars for groups of math

majors, science majors, or combined math and science majors. Selected candidates will coordinate with the larger instructional team and with the Cal Teach staff to maintain coherence of the course sequence and to resolve issues that arise in student internship placements.
