and the Center for Ingrative Brain Research at Seattle Children's Research Institute is recruiting to augment the cardiac research efforts of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and the Seattle Children’s Research Institute. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a program of external funding via federal agencies and/or private funding
agencies/industrial sponsors. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology is a diverse team covering every pediatric and congenital cardiac specialty, and has a broad network, extending across 4 states in the Pacific Northwest. The successful candidate will support either one of our current academic directions, or a novel direction applicable to the interests of our team. Our scholarly pursuits span outcomes research,
device and drug trials, translational research, and basic scientific inquiries. Our basic science research includes heart and vascular development, cardiopulmonary bypass, basic heart failure mechanisms and resilence, and Kawasaki Disease. Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months
of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70
