Work Arrangement: Onsite Job Summary The UMass Amherst Office of Faculty Development (OFD) seeks a non-tenure-track faculty position with a 100% FTE calendar-year (12-month) appointment for the position of Associate Director of Faculty Development. The Director reports to the Associate Provost for Faculty Development (APFD) and creates, implements, and evaluates a set of signature programs, resources and new

initiatives to enhance the success of all faculty. The Associate Director also participates in analysis of surveys of faculty needs and satisfaction to inform this programming. The Associate Director is responsible for a set of faculty development program areas or initiatives, which will involve mentoring faculty within the program area, facilitating workshops and panels, developing or updating resources, and other

activities, consistent with the mission of the Office of Faculty Development and the Associate Director’s interests and expertise. Possible signature programming areas of responsibility include: Early CareerMid-CareerAdvanced CareerSupporting NTTScholarly WritingMutual MentoringLeadership Essentials and/or Faculty Directors in Leadership DevelopmentCommunity, Inclusion & Well-beingAreas of responsibility could also

include the Office of Faculty Development’s partner programming in Research & Engagement and Awards & Recognition. Candidates for this position must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff. They must work to build and sustain effective working relationships and work collaboratively to promote teamwork, diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and accessibility.

Candidates must be dedicated to purposefully promoting and encouraging personal and professional growth, respect, self-reflection, curiosity, and continuous learning. Essential Functions Design, implement, and evaluate in-person and virtual programs, learning communities, and/or resources for faculty development in professional areas outside of teaching. Ensure signature programs in the Associate Director portfolio
