Veterinary Medicine 1116562 Position Summary The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Michigan State University, invites applications for a Health Programs (HP) Faculty Appointment position in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine (ECCM) at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team to become the 7th Small Animal ECCM faculty
member and an integral member of the service, which includes 6 Diplomates of ACVECC (and an additional 2 large animal Diplomates of ACVECC), 7 residents, and 20-30 service-dedicated licensed veterinary nurses. The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences comprises over 30 faculty and has an onsite, state-of-the-art Veterinary Medical Center (VMC). The VMC provides outstanding patient care and is staffed with
highly qualified veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, social workers, and other care providers to support the specialty services. In addition to ECCM, the VMC is well represented in specialty areas including highly active soft tissue and orthopedic surgery services, internal medicine, medical oncology, cardiology, anesthesiology, sports medicine and rehabilitation, theriogenology, primary care,
interventional radiology, behavior medicine, ophthalmology, and dermatology. Support from the specialty services for the ECCM Service is robust, including but not limited to daily (7:00 AM to 10:00 PM) full clinical laboratory and imaging coverage, a dedicated emergency surgery resident, and advanced cross-sectional imaging modalities available after hours. The ER/ICU was recently rebuilt to create a large,
open-concept ICU with a dedicated quiet (feline) room, two mirrored isolation wards, and four treatment stations, all with a centralized workstation allowing the team to monitor patients closely and communicate effectively.
