Endocrinology - Assistant Professor of Medicine - Tenure Track Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Department of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology seeks a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Medicine to participate in patient care, teaching, research, as well as conducting clinical research in the area of insulin resistance, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Candidates must have
an interest in, or have an established track record of, clinical investigation in diabetes. The candidate must have demonstrated research acumen and have a history of obtaining independent funding. Ideal candidates will also possess superior clinical, teaching and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to expanding the research mission of the division and will dedicate the majority of their time
to developing independent projects and working with collaborating scientists. The duties of this position include: Research/Education/Administrative: 75%, Clinical up to 25%.Candidates should have strong research training and, commensurate with rank, leadership experience in biomedical research, as well as a clinical background in the areas of diabetes, both type 1 and 2, insulin resistance, molecular and cellular
biology, experimental animal research to model diabetes and insulin resistance, in vivo investigation using glucose clamp studies. Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to investigate the causes of insulin resistance and how it affects cardiovascular function, primarily in regard to its role in lipoprotein. Candidates should have a documented record of scholarly achievement.
