specialization in coastal marine ecology in the Department of Marine Biology based at the UAF main campus (Troth Yeddha’ campus) in Fairbanks, Alaska. Applications are encouraged from individuals with strong scientific and academic backgrounds, who are committed to contributing to academic and research excellence at UAF. Successful candidates will complement the expertise of existing faculty and contribute to high
quality teaching, research, and service. UAF is a federally recognized Alaska Native-serving institution that supports bridging Indigenous and Western sciences. Strong candidates for this position will be expected to lead vigorous Alaska-based research programs that involve the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers. Candidates will also be expected to teach undergraduate and
graduate courses in areas of their expertise. We particularly encourage submissions from individuals with expertise in coastal marine ecology with a focus on either macroalgae and/or benthic invertebrates in intertidal or shallow subtidal waters. Applicants are expected to make use of our coastal lab, the Kasitsna Bay Lab in Kachemak Bay, AK, for their research and teaching. Ideally, applicants are certified
scientific divers with an interest in contributing to our Scientific Diving Program through teaching and leadership roles within the program. The home campus for this position will be the Troth Yeddha’ campus in Fairbanks, AK.
