2026/10/12 EDT) Position Description: Position Description Pomona College seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Computer Science to begin on July 1, 2027. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to i) inclusive undergraduate teaching across all levels of our curriculum; ii) mentoring a diverse student body and fostering a supportive learning environment; iii) developing a strong, independent research

program that involves undergraduates and leads to peer-reviewed publications; and iv) helping build community within our Department and the College.We welcome applicants with broad intellectual interests from a wide range of subdisciplines, with a preference for candidates whose research and teaching interests complement those of the current faculty (Computer Science Department Website) or who can contribute to

expanding the department's curricular range and scholarly interests. The teaching commitment is four courses per year over two semesters of instruction (2-2). CS faculty are expected to teach at least two required courses among our introductory (introduction to programming and computer science, mathematical foundations, and data structures) and/or core (algorithms, languages and theory of computation, and computer

systems) sequences. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand by their start date, usually July 1, 2027.Our department values experience working with undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to improving higher education for underrepresented students through teaching, scholarship, or service. After graduation, recent CS majors have taken jobs in industry and national research labs, and have

pursued graduate programs at top research labs.Pomona College, located in Southern California, is the founding member of the Claremont Colleges, which also includes Claremont McKenna, Scripps, Pitzer, Harvey Mudd, and Claremont Graduate University.
