full-time tenure-track faculty appointment in Chinese language, literature and culture at the Assistant Professor level, beginning July 1, 2027. The area of specialization is open. The teaching load is two courses per semester including both language courses and thematic courses taught in English. The successful candidate will be integral in the Chinese language program, participating fully in the language program
activities and teaching one to two courses in Chinese each year. Bowdoin is particularly interested in candidates dedicated to undergraduate teaching and with a promise of long-term successful research. Candidates must have native or near-native fluency in Mandarin and training in Chinese language pedagogy. A Ph.D is expected by the date of the appointment.
