Chicago State University Department of Art and Design invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Art History, beginning August 2026. We are looking for a faculty member who is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarly research, and student success in a diverse and inclusive

Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to dynamic and innovative undergraduate teaching and support activities that encourage unique learning opportunities in our University Gallery program as well as the classroom. Additional responsibilities include maintaining an active program of scholarly research, supporting student mentorship and professional development along with department and

university service. Required Education The desired applicant must have a Ph.D. in Art History or a related equivalent subject. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The successful candidate will develop curriculum and teach a range of art history courses, from Ancient and Medieval through Modern and Contemporary subject matter, in a BA Degree program with degree options in 2D & 3D Studio Art, Design, and PK-12 Art
