Applications Open: Dec 02 2025 Applications Close: Open until filled General Summary of Position: The Francis College of Engineering (FCOE) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) is searching for outstanding candidates for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position

in Biomedical Engineering. The position is anticipated to begin in September 2026. UMass Lowell’s Department of Biomedical Engineering trains students to translate discoveries into real-world applications in the medical device and biotechnology industries through an ABET-accredited B.S. program—Massachusetts’ first at a public university—with specialized tracks in medical device development, cell and tissue

engineering, and biomechanics. Students can accelerate their education with a 4+1 B.S.–to–M.S. option and pursue advanced studies via the intercampus Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology (BMEBT) M.S./Ph.D. or the Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, all enhanced by hands-on research in cutting-edge labs and core facilities. Our collaborative research is funded by NSF, NIH, DoD, and industry partners, fostering a

culture of innovation and scholarship. The department maintains strong partnerships with UMass Chan Medical School, interdisciplinary robotics and human performance (PEAK) centers located on the UML campus, and M2D2, our medical device and biotech incubator. The successful candidate should aim to establish an externally funded and internationally recognized research program, teach at both undergraduate and graduate

levels, and contribute to the department’s mission through service and promotion of inclusive excellence.
