Columbia University’s Department of Economics seeks to fill a chair in the Economics of the Middle East, with a joint appointment at the Institute for Israeli and Jewish Studies. We seek scholars in any field of economics with an outstanding publication record and who have ongoing research or engagement with the economics of the Middle East that includes the study of the Israeli economy and economic issues in the
region. Successful candidates will be willing to teach an undergraduate course in the Economics of the Middle East, as well as train and mentor interested graduate students. The appointment, to begin as early as July 1, 2026, can be at any tenure-track rank, with a preference for a tenured appointment.
