Position summary

The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology seeks a clinical pathologist faculty position, serving as both: Assistant Director of Hematology & Coagulation within the central academic laboratory, and Assistant Director of Laboratory Medicine for two community practice locations, Westchester and The One. This position offers a distinctive opportunity to contribute to high-complexity academic laboratory services

while also supporting laboratory operations that directly impact patient care in key community settings. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills in hematology and coagulation, paired with interest and aptitude for system-level laboratory leadership. Training or experience in Transfusion Medicine is strongly preferred, as both community sites have active blood banks. Responsibilities: I. Assistant

Director of Hematology & Coagulation (50%) Clinical & Diagnostic Duties Provide expertise in the interpretation of hematology and coagulation studies, including complex coagulation evaluations (factor assays, thrombophilia testing, mixing studies, platelet function studies). Interpret results for hemoglobin variant testing, including hemoglobin electrophoresis, HPLC, and related assays. Participate in

clinical case sign-out and consultation services in hematology and coagulation. Support quality assurance, proficiency testing, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Scientific & Operational Leadership Assist in developing and validating new hematology and coagulation assays. Collaborate with clinical teams to guide test utilization and enhance diagnostic impact. Engage in scholarly

activities, quality improvement initiatives, and translational efforts related to hematology and coagulation. Education Teach residents, fellows, medical students, and laboratory professionals.
