Medicine is seeking a full-time candidate for a faculty position in its world-renowned shoulder and elbow service. Responsibilities could include resident and fellow education, medical student teaching, and clinical or basic research. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice encompassing all aspects of shoulder and elbow conditions, as well as a robust program in

clinical research, the study of educational methodologies, or basic research. The practice is located at the University of Washington Medical Center. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure) or Associate Professor WOT (without tenure) rank depending on qualifications. The majority of School of Medicine faculty hired in the professorial track are hired under the WOT designation.

Faculty appointed WOT have the same rights, responsibilities and obligations as tenure-track and tenured faculty members at those ranks. However, faculty appointed as WOT do not hold tenure because all or part of their annual University-administered salary is derived from sources other than regularly appropriated stated funds. This position has a flexible start date in the fall of 2027. Assistant Professors (WOT) are

eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Salary Overall compensation is a combination of base salary plus other compensation. Base compensation is only one component of total compensation. The base salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor range is: $20,000 – $35,000 per month ($240,000-$420,000 annually) and at the Associate Professor range it is: $29,177- $38,334 per month-($350,124-460,008
