University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, without tenure by reason of funding, on the Faculty-Scientist track. The appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position will also include an appointment in a Center consistent with the faculty’s area of research at Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

The successful applicant will be expected to build and maintain a focused research program that can expand with NIH grant funding. The position includes 75-80% protected time for research, with 20-25% clinical effort divided between inpatient service and outpatient clinics. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2025. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period

(July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600

volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.
