Surgical and Radiological Sciences at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is expanding its surgical services and seeks a veterinarian with advanced training in small animal soft tissue surgery to join the existing small animal surgical team. Areas of expertise or interest that would fit well with our case load and expansion trajectory include minimally invasive surgery, oncology, and urgent/critical specialty
referrals; however, all areas of expertise and interest are welcomed. RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical: The position includes a 50% clinical effort to the Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery Service of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH). Estimated annual clinical effort assignments are 20 weeks (typically M-Th or Tu-F) and up to 10 weeks/year on call, with on call weeks currently served concurrently with clinic
weeks. On call time could be increased and daytime duty adjusted accordingly based on the interests of the candidate. Individual will be responsible for directing, instructing and supervising veterinary students and residents; providing health care and service to in-house and referral patients; and advising and consulting with referring veterinarians and clients. Research and Creative Work: Faculty are expected to
advance the discipline through creation and dissemination of new knowledge with documentation in peer-reviewed publications. The development of a creative, focused, and productive basic and/or clinically-oriented research program is a fundamental and indispensable requirement of the position. Individual will provide leadership in directing research projects of veterinary students, residents, and/or graduate students.
