Hospital Medicine Program – Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Practice Positions The Hospital Medicine Program, part of the Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and the Department of Medicine, is currently accepting online applications for up to seven positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Clinical Practice track. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and
qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. While the anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, specific start date is negotiable and select positions may be available immediately. Candidates may be considered at individual or multiple
sections of GIM—Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center (Montlake and Northwest campuses), and VA Puget Sound Health Care System. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. All positions will provide primary medicine services, consultative medicine and/or perioperative medicine services, with teaching on the general medicine wards and opportunities to
interact with students and residents from a variety of departments. In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).
Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B and permanent residence sponsorship.
