The base pay range for this position is $80,800 - $212,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences

Position description The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence within its faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking Academic Chemical Pathologists (physicians or physician-scientists) to join the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine. The candidates will serve as Associate Directors of the

Clinical Chemistry Laboratories at UC San Diego Health’s Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine (CALM) and Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla, and at the UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest. UC San Diego is an internationally recognized leader and center of excellence in laboratory automation/robotics, clinical mass spectrometry, immunoassay development, and genomic/precision medicine. The positions involve a

broad range of rotating clinical, administrative, and on-call responsibilities shared with a dedicated team of other qualified MD, MD/PhD, and PhD faculty. Primary service coverage includes providing physician interpretations of diagnostic tests and pathology clinical consultations with written report sign-outs, as well as medical and technical supervision of laboratory operations across all UC San Diego Health

laboratory sites. Other duties encompass assisting the section directors with quality and regulatory management, new test development and innovation, analytical instrument/method validations, procedural oversight, and performance improvement initiatives. The positions also involve the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, including active participation in our ComACC-accredited clinical chemistry
