Position summary

Summary: The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) faculty member for Long Island University (LIU) Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is responsible for helping to coordinate the development and monitoring of the CVM model for community-based clinical hospitals and industry partners. The DVM faculty provides oversight of CVM evaluation and assessment activities. Primary Responsibilities: Promote the mission of

Long Island University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large. Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students. Represent the office and college as appropriate. Provide educational and assessment activities for biomedical and clinical sciences, as required. Provide oversight for all assessment activities for CVM. Supervise the planning, coordination, delivery, and

evaluation of designated clinical courses and graduate programs. Develop, recruit and monitor community-based clinical hospitals and industry partners. Manage the logistical and operational aspects of the distributed veterinary learning community Evaluate existing goals and establish goals for clinical courses in the academic programs Communicate effectively with participants, peers and supervisors with appropriate

communication, conflict resolution and problem solving skills that promote an environment of cooperation. Evaluate content, equipment, and other related issues to allow for continuous improvement of the program Participate in national and local meetings to improve operations. Participate on university committees. Develops and coordinates seminars and specialized workshops with CVM faculty and staff. Complete required

institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites Regular visit clinical partners and support these locations. Report on clinical visits regarding safety, educational environment, and clinical educator training Perform selected clinical services as needed. Participate in community outreach programs. Implement

creative solutions and novel approaches to assessing and improving students’ clinical competencies. Perform other duties as assigned.
