Position summary

Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Adult Education Instructor located primarily on the Paragould Campus. Teaching at other locations may sometimes be required of the instructor. This position may require evening or weekend hours. The job is a full-time, twelve-month position. paid by BRTC $20,000 life insurance policy with premium paid by BRTC 14% minimum retirement contribution from BRTC each pay period 11 paid State Holidays per calendar year if employed full time during the date of those Holidays Tuition Waiver for Employee and dependents to BRTC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Adult Education Instructor will teach Adult Basic Education, ESL, and GED courses. Subjects taught will

include but not be limited to the GED test areas (literature, writing, social studies, science, and math) and adult basic education skill areas (language, math, and reading). The instructor may also be responsible for teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) classes, Distance and Virtual Learning, Integrated Education and Training, and workplace classes. In addition, the instructor will complete any professional

development needed as determined by the Adult Education Division. Other responsibilities of the instructor include: administering the TABE assessment to determine individual skills and TABE post-tests to assess progress according to recommended guidelines, administering the GED Ready pre-test and making assignments or referrals based on the results, completing and maintaining appropriate student registration,

attendance, and assessment records. SPECIAL SKILLS: Knowledge and experience using MS Word, Excel, Zoom, Go Meet (or another online meeting platform), and Canvas (or other open-source learning management platforms such as Moodle or Blackboard). The candidate must have the ability to be a self-starter and work remotely with students online. QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant must have a Bachelor's degree and possess a
