University of Rochester  ·  University Based Teacher Educator 2026  ·  Lechase Hall, NY
Adjunct

Position summary

The University-Based Teacher Educator (UBTE) plays a vital role in supporting the coordinator of the teacher preparation program by identifying high-quality clinical placements for teacher candidates within a designated area. This position includes active participation in the weekly seminar that accompanies candidates’ field and student teaching experiences, with specific responsibilities determined collaboratively

with the seminar leader. UBTEs serve as key points of contact for student teachers, offering guidance, troubleshooting, and ongoing support throughout their clinical experiences. For candidates under their direct supervision, UBTEs are responsible for facilitating the setup of placements, ensuring timely completion of letters of expectation, and conducting the minimum required number of formal observations. Each

observation must be followed by a debriefing session with both the teacher candidate and the School-Based Teacher Educator—conducted either in person or via videoconference—and documented with a written evaluation. Additional informal observations and support may be provided as needed. UBTEs are also expected to complete all required program assessments in a timely and thorough manner.
