position. Job Description: Teaches a variety of courses in American Sign Language. Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomesPrepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handoutsEvaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinationsMaintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required
documentation by specified deadlinesBe available to students for coachingPeriodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training and development Required Qualifications:Master's degree or higher in American Sign Language (ASL) or; master’s degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate level course hours in ASL or ASL interpreting; or master's degree in related field
with at least one or more of the following:Minimum 1-year teaching experience in ASL or ASL interpretingASLTA or RID certificationBachelor’s degree in ASL, ASL interpreting, or related fieldGraduate of an Interpreter Training ProgramASLPI rating level 4 or 5 (Level 3 may be considered based on additional qualifications)SLPI rating of Advanced or higher (Intermediate Plus may be considered based on additional
qualifications)Native or near-native fluency in ASLUnderstanding of ASL grammar and structureEvidence of a strong commitment to professional development and staying current in the field of ASLCurrent membership in ASL Teachers’ Association (ASLTA).
