Assistant Professor position in Phonology and Syntax, with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2026. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time (100%FTE) basis for a nine-month academic, 1 year, renewable appointment beginning September 16th, 2026. The

base salary range for this position will be $7,700 to $8,250 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The successful candidate will be expected to teach phonology and syntax classes at an undergraduate and/or graduate level, complement the existing strengths of the department, become part of the linguistics community, and

contribute to the teaching and diversity mission of the university. The Linguistics Department hosts a vibrant community of scholars dedicated to the study of language as a natural phenomenon. Its 18 faculty members and five staff members serve 147 undergraduate majors, a total of 55 ASL and Linguistics minors, 135 graduate students, and a large number of non-majors enrolled in courses.
