The successful candidates will be an MD, MD/PhD or PhD and able to sustain a grant-supported clinical and/or laboratory research program in genomic medicine.For clinicians, up to 20% effort seeing patients in genomic medicine-related
clinics can be supported, in which case board certification in clinical genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics is strongly encouraged. Faculty rank is open, depending on the experience of the candidate and external grant funding of the candidate. candidate.The UAB Department of Genetics has a robust program in genomic medicine, including an Undiagnosed Disease Program, the Alabama Genomic Health Initiative sponsored by the State of Alabama, and participation in several large NIH-funded consortia, including the All of Us Research Program, the eMERGE consortium, and the Clinical Sequencing Evidence-Generating Research (CSER) Consortium. We have a close
collaboration with the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville, AL with the UAB-HudsonAlpha Center for Genomic Medicine.
